As the years have worn on I am eternally grateful for that spark. I get the joy of teaching and hopefully fostering a love of history in the students that I teach. I firmly believe that no matter how much a child professes that they hate history, there is at least one topic or era that will give them that spark I alluded to earlier.
My spark was two-fold; I fell in love with Civil War history and World War II history as a teenager and those loves have never faded. These are vastly different eras, but they are the most fascinating eras that I have come across in my lifetime. I believe that my love for old movies, music, radio shows, even down to the penchant I have for wearing fedora hats all can be traced back to my love for the World War II era. I am planning a series of posts to discuss the World War II era in depth and I hope to gain some readership through those, my real hope is that just one follower of this blog would find that spark. I leave you with a simple task, think of your spark, what passion has fueled your life and what was the catalyst for that moment? I would love to have people post in the comments section below their thoughts on that spark.
Until next time,
Matt
